Dear Colleague,

I am pleased to invite you to the National Emergency Management Association (NEMA) 2009 Annual Conference being held in Columbus, Ohio.  We look forward to hosting you in Ohio’s largest city and the 15th largest city in the United States.  In addition to being the home of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Columbus has something to offer everyone.

There is so much for you and your family to do in Columbus, it’s easier to tell you what you can’t do.  You can’t tour the Everglades, climb Mount Everest or see the Mona Lisa…but you can eat breakfast with the animals at the Columbus Zoo, spend an afternoon with nature, butterflies and incomparable glass artwork at the Franklin Park Conservatory and the Chihuly Collection and thrill to the beauty of live ballet in the evening.  Whether you want to wander the galleries of the Short North or kick it up a bit in the Arena district, Columbus has something for you.

October is a beautiful month in the Midwest; the air is crisp and trees are decked out in shades of red, orange and gold.  Days are usually clear, with bright blue skies and nights are perfect sweater weather.

The conference hotel is within a few short blocks of great shopping, fine restaurants and quirky cafes, and an indoor market with unique foods, ethnic offerings and fresh fruits.

I look forward to hosting the 2009 NEMA conference, and invite you to experience all that Columbus has to offer.

Nancy Dragani
2008-2009 NEMA President
